Verizon Plaza Sculpture Park

The purpose of the Verizon Plaza project  in Midtown, Manhattan was to revitalise the pedestrian link between 42nd and 41st Street and make it attractive enough to remain.

Its design is inspired by pedestrian movement patterns, with main pathways following the shortest, most trafficked routes. This layout creates natural spaces for rest and art contemplation in quieter areas.
The plaza provides access to the 1095 Avenue of the Americas Tower, now known as 2 Bryant Park Tower,  lobby, as well as a new retail pavilion featuring a restaurant and an outdoor café.
Additionally, the plaza hosts a curated program for art and sculpture, enhancing the public space with rotating installations and permanent works.

Gregory Martínez de Riquelme worked on the plaza design and construction detailing during his tenure at Gensler New York.
