Il Centro Community Center marks a significant milestone for the Federation of Italian-American Organizations (FIAO) and the diverse community it serves. FIAO, a nonprofit, provides educational and recreational resources to local Italian-American and multicultural communities.
Its new four-story facility enhances this mission with ample space for an auditorium, classrooms, an indoor pool, a gymnasium, a fitness center, a rooftop terrace, and a garden. Despite a restricted budget, we successfully delivered this ambitious project through innovative design solutions. Notably, placing the swimming pool on the top floor created a unique experience while optimizing space for the center’s extensive programs.
The building was designed by Gregory Martínez de Riquelme during his tenure at Gensler’s New York office.
